Medical Simulation: Cesarean Section Simulation Model

This project was created in collaboration with Wellstar MCG to be implemented as a training model in their Clinical Anatomy Readiness Course. The Cesarean Section Simulation Model is intended to train fourth-year medical students in proper Cesarean delivery procedure in preparedness for residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology.
The Process


The abdominal base of the model was sculpted and prepared in ZBrush. The appropriate abdominal layers were sectioned to create silicone molds.


The abdominal base was 3D printed in a life-size ratio using Bambu Labs filament printers.


The appropriate abdominal layers (skin, fat, fascia, rectus muscle) were casted in silicone for realistic tissue dynamics.


An umbilical cord and placenta were casted in silicone. The umbilical cord is detachable for practice with cord clamping and placenta delivery. The umbilical cord was attached to a blank silicone baby kit model.



A re-usable uterus was created with stretch fabric. With two incision points, both typical and breech Cesarean deliveries can be performed.

The Cesarean Section Simulation Model received the first place award in the Graduate Level of the 2026 INNOVATE competition held by the Georgia Cyber Center. The model is a grant recipient for its innovation in addressing healthcare training and patient safety.

The model is also a recipient of the 2026 Augusta University Student Research Program (SRP) Grant, and a 2026 Vesalius Trust Research Grant.
